The fourth round of the Italian F.4 Championship officially got underway at Mugello Circuit with the first free practice session. A total of 38 drivers took on the fascinating Tuscan circuit, known for its sweeping elevation changes, fast corners, and more technical, twisty sections. The opening 40-minute session of the day was crucial for fine-tuning the weekend setup, with a second session to follow at 11:55AM before heading into qualifying later this evening at 4:45PM.

Setting the fastest lap of the morning was Sebastian Wheldon, representing Prema Racing, who clocked a best time of 1’50.072. He led a tight battle at the top of the timing sheets with Italian driver Emanuele Olivieri of R-ace GP, who was just 0.120 seconds behind. US Racing's Brazilian driver Gabriel Gomez also stayed close to the benchmark, finishing 0.179 off the pace.

Close behind were two teammates from the squad run by Gerhard Ungar and Ralf Schumacher: Germany's Maxim Rehm, 0.210 seconds off the lead, and Serbia’s Andrija Kostic, just 0.

211 adrift. The sixth fastest time went to the Championship leader, Slovak-Japanese driver Kean Nakamura-Berta of Prema Racing, who lapped 0.287 off Wheldon.

Seventh on the timesheets was American-Jamaican driver Alex Powell. The Mercedes junior with R-ace GP once again showed strong pace, ending up 0.299 behind Wheldon. Colombia’s Salim Hanna of Prema Racing was the fastest Rookie of the session, with a gap of 0.358, ahead of his class rival Aleksander Ruta of Van Amersfoort Racing. Rounding out the top 10 was US Racing’s Alpine Academy driver Kabir Anurag, 0.456 behind.

Later today, Friday 11 July, qualifying will be held across two 15-minute sessions. The first session, setting the grid for Race 1, will begin at 4:45PM; the second, which determines the Race 2 grid, is scheduled for 5:10PM. The starting grid for Race 3 will be based on the drivers’ second-best lap times from either session.

The races, each lasting 30 minutes plus one lap, will begin on Saturday, 12 July, with Race 1 at 11:10AM and Race 2 at 6:10PM.

Race 3 is set for Sunday, 13 July at 10:40AM.

All races will be broadcast live on ACI Sport TV (Sky channel 288 and TivůSat channel 52) and streamed on www.live.acisport.tv, as well as on the ACI Sport TV YouTube and Facebook pages. The races will also be available with English commentary through the international television network broadcasting the Italian F.4 Championship and via the championship’s YouTube and Facebook pages.
